Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior representative stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
