Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced using custom matches set up using the custom game tool to finish these tasks, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.

A number of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

One more community participant brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe Operation Firestorm at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

At the moment, the audience continues to express their views on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in coming revisions.
