19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He defended four early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
